A live training exploring the architecture and deeper dynamics of transformative experiences.
Whether you are creating your first retreat or refining an existing format, the training helps you understand the mechanics influencing how people feel, open, connect, change through and integrate an experience.
A beautiful, meaningful retreat can have far more impact when it is intentionally designed to support the inner shift.
Most facilitators are very gifted at holding space. What’s often overlooked is how emotional flow, environment, group dynamics and applying proper design rules shape the overall journey.
Some of the most powerful dimensions of experience design are subtle — yet profoundly affect what participants remember and take home.
01 Flow
You want to better understand how emotional pacing, sequencing, and psychological movement shape transformation.
02 Setting
You already intuitively sense that venues, atmosphere, nature, and spatial design profoundly influence how people feel, connect, and open and want to orchestrate it with intention.
03 Field
You want to know how facilitation, relational dynamics, ritual, and group energy influence the depth and stability of an experience.
04 Design Principles
You want to move beyond intuition alone and leverage the underlying design principles across future retreats.
Katja has spent over 15 years designing, producing and hosting over a hundred experiences - from retreats, workshops and intimate ceremonies to unconferences, hospitality formats, destination immersions, bespoke gatherings and immersive brand and cultural experiences. Alongside her professional work, she has experienced hundreds more across an extraordinary range of formats. From business, educational and hospitality to travel and adventure, to wellness, wisdom circles and the wonderfully woo-woo, as well as highly experimental, edgy or simply weird ways of gathering.
After that much exposure, patterns become visible: what works, what falls flat, what stays with people. And why.
Her work is grounded in psychological sequencing, a precise attention to space and atmosphere, and a commitment to designing for what unfolds after the experience as much as what happens within it. She works with intention, ritual, and nature as active elements in the design process, drawing on a background in transformation coaching, facilitation, and experience design.
Katja has lectured in Transformative Experience Design at Salzburg University, contributed to courses on impact and retreat experience design, and advises on immersive formats and experience architecture.
Retreat Alchemy is her invitation to pass this on. In a form you can learn, apply, and make your own.
